There is - There are

"There is - There are" yapısını bir şeyin var olup olmadığını ya da ne kadar olduğunu belirtmek için kullanırız. Türkçe'deki "vardır" ifadesinin İngilizce'si olarak özetleyebiliriz. 

 "There is" yapısını tekil ve sayılamayan isimler için kullanırken, "There are" yapısını çoğul isimlerde kullanırız. 

Form:

• There is/ There isn't  / Is there / Isn't there + tekil isim / sayılamayan isim
• There are/ There aren't / Are there / Aren't there + çoğul isim

Örnek:

There is a dog in the garden.

There is some milk in the bottle.

There isn't a bed in this room.

There isn't any water.

There are 20 kids in my classroom.

There are many students in this school.

There aren't 4 bananas on the table.

Is there any  in this house?

    - Yes, there is. / No, there isn't.

Are there ten pencils in the pencilcase?

    - Yes, there are. / No, there aren't.

*Any : Sayılamayan isimlerin olumsuzunda ve soru cümlelerinde kullanılır, hiç anlamı verir.

*Some: Olumlu cümlelerde kullanılır.

• Sayılabilir isim ise; birkaç, bazı, biraz
• Sayılamayan isin ise; biraz

* Many: Olumlu ve çoğum cümlelerde kullanılır.Bir çok anlamı verir.
